Self Introduction

My name is Yuka Yachimori. I am from Sikama town(色麻町) where is North West of Myagi prefecture. I belong to English course in this faculty. I study for being elementary school teacher in Miyagi. I want to get license of elementary school,  junior high, high school and special education teacher. The reason why I want to get them is that a lot of elementary school and junior high in Miyagi is being abolished and integrated, and become 1~9 grades primary and secondary schools. Because of this plan of government of Myagi, my elementary school were abolished and integrated with neighbor elementary school and junior high. So this problem is immediate to me. I will  have to  teach not only elementary pupils but junior high students, if I work in such schools. By the way, I belong light music club in this university. I am interested in American and British rock 'n' roll and pops. I have listened to such as The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac etc. But these days I become addicted to TOTO, Norah Jones and David Bowie. If there is anybody who are interested in musics, I would like to talk about it. 

Critical Incident 1: In Nakano ES July 8th, 2015

In ETM1,I taught 5 grades class In discussion, I realized that the beginner of English(elementary schools' pupils ) is the same of babes who are born in countries where English is spoken . So I have to read some books as speaking to babes and present pictures with words. And professor Yamazaki told us that we should not point spelling but pictures when we teach pupils how to say in English. I was impressed with it. My group mates and I taught in Nakano elementary school in July. In the lesson, we taught how to say the name of places and "right and left" in English. We made a big map so that pupils could easy to understand and drew a lot of picture of places. We read "Suddenly " and played a game which make pupils how to get to the place on the map by using "right " and "left ". And I took charge of reading a book. The day before go to Nakano, I added an action "hug with friends " in the last of the book. It aroused them beyond expectations. They looked so fun and the tense atmosphere in the class became relaxed. It surprises me and I was glad to see that.

My Development Goals(October 9,2015→February9,2016)


My ultimate goal is to develop in teacher who can teach correctly knowledge of English, have definite skill of Education and encourage student studying English affirmative with interestment. To be like this, I should
  1. join teaching practice and make a lot of lesson plans
By doing so, I can develop ability of communicating and cooperating with people. And I can get the way to think of teaching plans.
  1. examine the way to teach spontaneously by browsing internet and going to library.
  2. search English music and games that provoke students ideas and interestment.
  3. learn about supporting students who are not able to English.
  4. thinking and talking about global issues in English.
By doing so, I can make lesson in expectation of global society. Besides above, I am going to read newspapers, browsing English news on the internet, read concern with global issues and search and familiar with culture of foreign countries(not only country English is spoken). And also, I want to visit foreign country for broaden my horizons.

My Teaching Philosophy(October 9,2015→February9,2016)

I think English should be learn useful, meaningful, and interesting. For to do, I have to acquire teaching skills so that I can make good teaching lesson plans and class equipment. And also I have to know Theories of teaching and understand relevant disciplines such as SLA, phonology, lexis etc. Following sentence are what I should do for teaching English.

1.I should make good atmosphere for leaning and let them use English spontaneously .

(ex. singing a song, playing games and so on)

2. I should exhibit goal when the lesson gets start so that students expect what they will do.

3. I should research teaching materials and what I teach elaborately before teaching. If not, I cannot make good opportunity of learning for students and it will be waste of time.

 4.I should develop their ability of English(listening, reading, speaking and writing) Therefore, I have to learn English by TOEIC and Eiken.(For me⇒passing Eiken pre 1 gread or above or getting TOEIC over 700)(ex. For students⇒giving them some homework every day, distributing prints(printed a short English story) and questioning concern with the contents and so on

 5.I should try to use English in the lesson and make communication activities. Through this, I would like to them to be positive to communicating in English. I think it is very important to have an atitude of communicating in English positively more than memorizing  grammars. So I would like to take away children or students' hesitation.

To accommodate this, teacher needs not only education skill but also English definite skills, I think. And English skills is lacking for me. So I am going to study for passing Eiken Pre-1grade and 700grades in TOEIC, and read some English books. And I think I have to experience a lot of teaching practice. However, time is definitely, so I am going to read at first "英語科教育の基礎と実践" . And after reading, I am going to read a lot of books concerned with example of lessons and theories of education.

My Development in 2014 - 2016

In teaching practice in Jury 2015, I could learn the atmosphere of elementary schools and lesson of English in elementary school. In my class, my class mates and I discussed how to teach to children effectively and how to make them join English class actively. My classmates and I discussed about it again and again with Professor Yamazaki and Mr. Townsend.

In my group, I researched teaching materials of upper grades. We could choose only one among three books and I choose a picture book "Suddenly ". In teaching practice in December 2015, I could learn and discuss theories of teaching, subject matter knowledge, teaching skilles and so on. And I was forced to think about how to provoke students who looks like not to have motivations. And I was forced to think about how to let them think about theme of lessons. I experienced a student who looked like not to have confidence and motivations. When I realized her, her group members already made fun of her. And she looked like to give up trying to speak English. I was very shocked. So, through this experience, I could learn that there are such students and they have complex about anything they do.
